about

This song is a reflective declaration of love. It’s about a person fighting to do the right thing in a tale of two individuals attracted to one another in circumstances that are too difficult or complex to overcome. Love is blind and knows no barriers but that desire to be together can be so damaging and hurtful to others, those who are going to get rejected and pushed aside, that fighting your feelings and deciding not to act on your emotions are the only way to escape. A love that is based on empathy is so hard to resist, especially where the eyes are the window to the soul and it is clear that there is a very deep attraction. Like all songs it will speak to individuals in different ways.

lyrics

When I first set eyes on you
I fell into the pit
I knew I had to be with you
And you cried
Your deepest fears and all your pain
And I listened again and again

I keep my distance
I fear what I feel
I keep my distance
Not allowed to feel
I keep my distance
I fear what I feel
I keep my distance
Not allowed to feel

You are close
Yet so far away
Now I see you
I walk the other way
Lost in your eyes
Lost in your eyes
Lost in your eyes
Again and again and again and again

I keep my distance
I fear what I feel
I keep my distance
I am not allowed to feel
I keep my distance
I fear what I feel
I keep my distance
Not allowed to feel
